The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24

bite travel With its cascading structure, this six-tiered hotel set against a backdrop of trees and greenery makes it vis- ually attractive, intriguing and almost blends in with the landscape. The hotel contains 193 rooms and 16 suites with a sea view, with some of them measuring up to 175 square metres in size. Guests will be pleased with the abundance of natural light that flows through the large windows and the view that opens up to the fascinating and one of the most recognisable vistas in the Adriatic. Interestedly, the corridors in the hotel are named after the plants in the park-forest behind the facility with names like 202 Cedar Walk. The aim of the hotel is to make this a home away from home for their guests as well as their new address for the duration of their stay. The fourth collaboration between Maistra Hospitality Group and local architecture studio 3LHD, this latest five-star hotel promises an artistic luxury experience, wrapped in the local narrative and authentic culture. The hotel’s interior was designed by Milan-based studio Lissoni Associati Milano who was also responsible for the furnishings. The six floors are connected by seven lifts, making sure each and every guest enjoys the full view of the spectacular surroundings, one of which is the brand new ACI Marina, capable of housing vessels up to 35 metres long. The Lungo Mare Plaza shopping and promenade area, located between the group’s other five-star hotels and the Old Town, is packed with upscale design shops, delis and cafés. At the hotel, guests are encouraged to record their own impressions of their stay and collect them as memo- ries. Upon arrival, they are given a travel journal – both a guide to Rovinj’s stories and an assemblage of their memories – and an instant photography camera. Staying at this hotel is like being on an adventure as guests are encouraged to store physical photos and any memento inside the journal, while the leather-bound notebook be- comes their own art piece and a great memory of their stay. Boasting six restaurants, the choices include Cap Aureo Signature Restaurant, Viva Fuma Lobby Bar with con- temporary food portraying a local light flair on socialis- ing and mingling food; and Cissa, a pool lounge on top of the hotel with an unforgettable view of the city. There is also Laurel & Berry, an all-day eatery and Katarina’s Patisserie, which serves delights such as desserts and specialty coffee. For those who wish to keep in shape and enhance their health, the Albaro Spa &Wellness spanning 3,800 square metres, is the biggest centre of its kind in Istria. It extends over two floors of the hotel, with indoor and outdoor areas, including three outdoor pools located on the top of the hotel. Three saunas and two steam rooms with a variety of temperatures with special aroma programmes, two cold plunge pools, and a shower paradise complete the thermal circuit. Here you will get the opportunity to be pampered with freshly prepared ingredients of Istria, including local botanicals, clays and marine ingredients. From miner- al rich marine mud and locally harvested sea salts, to fragrant essential oils steam distilled from their coastal herbs and flowers, guests will be able to see, smell and taste the divine riches of the place. Treatments include their signature Batana bodywork therapy and Istrian rakija therapies inspired by the legendary herbal and fruit rakija (grappa) spirits.
