The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24
bite men A brand that was created by Manuel Garcia in 2006 to make life easier for men, Garcia Madrid offers collections in which the best of tailoring tradi- tion is combined with a contemporary touch, especially for those gentlemen who prefer a bit of a twist in their clothing. With artisan craft evident in the details and finishes, and using the highest quality fabrics such as premi- um cotton, cashmere wool, superfine merino and silk, the Garcia Madrid garment is neat, precise and sophisticated. Garcia Madrid encourages us to see the sea for the first time, to face it, smell it and feel it. Going back to Manuel’s child- hood, we visualise pastel tones and luminous colours in his favourite hues of white and lemon yellow, while sand, coral, turquoise, light blue and navy blue complete the palettes of the collection. “Be born in the interior. Imagine the sea; a blue, yellow, happy, carefree, different summer; a time when everything was possible...; a whole world to discover, to recover.” Opening their show at the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Madrid with performance by a singer and guitarist who also played the keyboard, the pure light of summer was reimagined in the form of raw linens, wild silks, gros- grain, glossy cottons, stripes and sailor’s nets. Light pastels and rich colours of yellows, blues, greys and pinks came smoothly down the catwalk in designs that were creative and eye-catching. Most of the outfits were made up of trousers or short suits that were paired with a t-shirt or shirt. One of the standout pieces was a dark blue and white blotted jacket with black piping on the collar paired with three-quarter length white trousers. On this particular outfit, the model wore nothing underneath the jacket. Another was an immaculate light green jacket with stripes of orange, white, red and black, worn with a white t-shirt and black trousers. The catwalk was brightened up with an almost completely yellow suit, worn with a blue and white shirt, and white shoes. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you wear flip flops or shoes, the grey double breasted jacket with grey and white collars will look amazing wherever you go. Sailor’s nets came into play on a couple of the outfits such as the baby pink suit with the net showing underneath the jacket but over a striped shirt, and the smooth grey suit, also with a grey and white collar which had the net draped over the shoulder of the jacket and down the arm, almost reaching the floor. There were simpler designs such as the heavily blotted denim jacket which had the two top buttons done up and opened at the bottom, giving the audience a peek of the model’s navel while a longer-length jacket in yellow with a high collar showed the model’s legs. For a smart but simple beach or casual wear, the striped jacket and shirt with white shorts will provide you with the ideal summer look. I also liked the rich brown jacket with patterns of circles, worn over a white t-shirt and a pair of cream trousers. With perfectly chiselled looks and neatly styled hair, the models carried the sexy and immaculate designs of Manuel Garcia on the catwalk well. Each one colourful and vibrant in its own right, the SS19 collection presented a variety of styles that could be worn with confidence and panache by gentlemen from around the globe, whether it’s for a casual occasion or a more formal event. Creative details such as the lime green zip on the back of a navy blue jacket will make any man stand out. http://garciamadrid.com
