The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24

bite catwalk I nspired by the interaction between the human body and nature Simon Mo presented his collection ‘Seas the Day’. The Taiwanese designer spoke of his love for the marine world and his sadness at how pollu- tion is damaging this natural world. Plastic is killing the beautiful majestic creatures of the sea and Simon Mo wanted to translate his passion for changing this into his collection. A marine inspired colour palette of blues, greens and navy were rooted throughout the collection ranging in vibrancy and depth with the occasional pop of bright tropical colours. Simple cuts were cinched in with ties of fabric which were also braided into the models’ hair reminiscing imagery of marine life caught in plastic nettings – it was a clear translation of the concept. It also added to the relaxed feel of the collection. An element of something akin to a Bohemian influence could be felt through a series of velvet like Burgundy maxi dresses with gold detailing which gave a nice contrast to the mainly blue toned palette. Bright pink eyeshadow complimented the vibrancy of the collection. The relaxed almost vacation inspired design of the col- lection is very reminiscent and true to the designer’s aesthetic of comfortable clothing and romantic notions translated through prints. Not failing to include some of his quirks through fun accessories, bucket hats had cutout eye holes like a two-in-one pair of sunglasses hats, which adorned some of the looks worn and held like bags, adding to the action feel of the collection. It was a nice unique approach adding to the smooth line up of garments. www.simonmotl.com Simon Mo Simon Mo
