The Bite Magazine Issue 17
I t seems to be a constant struggle for Vampire death dealer Selene (Kate Beckinsale) fighting against the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her, who are both out to take her and her daughter’s blood in order to become Vampire-Corvinus hybrids. With David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance) as the only allies she has left, Selene must stop the eternal war between the Lycans andVampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice. With all the odds stacked against her, in this fifth instalment in the Underworld franchise and the sequel to 2012’s Underworld: Awakening , will Selene be successful in her mission or would it have all been in vain? Anna Foerster makes her directorial debut and is the first woman to direct the film in the series while Tobias Menzies takes on the role of Marius, the mysterious new Lycan leader and Bradley James is cast as the main villain. Newcomer Clem- entine Nicholson is set to play Lena, the Nordic Coven’s greatest warrior and daughter of Vidar, and Lara Pulver may prove to be a problem for Selene as a fiercely ambitious vampire. There have already been talks of a follow-up film with a sixth instalment and Beckinsale reprising her role.
