bite spa chatting, munching on fresh fruit and leafing through magazines in the sort of lazy way that one rarely gets to indulge in day-to-day life. It was just the love- liest way to while away the afternoon before we pulled ourselves together and headed back into the main hotel. After a quick freshen up in our room (facials are heaven for the skin but they don’t exactly leave you looking chic), we col- lected a couple of glasses of bubbly from the bar and settled in a quiet corner of the garden, taking in the crisp air and watching the slow, pinky hues of the sunset. If you’re looking for romance, Frimley Hall certainly delivers and the property takes on a whole new enchant- ing air come evening. Giddy on bubbles, we were suitably famished by dinnertime and we were ripe for a good meal as we headed to the hotel’s two AA-rosette-winning Linden restaurant. Contemporary yet comfortable, it’s a fabulous place to dine and their talented chefs use the freshest of locally sourced ingredients, making for a lovely dining experience. Starting with fresh bread (the tomato bread, as recommended by our wonder- ful hostess, was divine), we enjoyed the most delicious of three course meals, starting with a whipped goats cheese starter, a main of pork belly, seared to perfection and finished with a rich and creamy chocolate dessert. It was very, very good. Bodies pampered and bellies full, an amazing night’s sleep was had in our incredibly comfortable bed and we arose fresh faced and full of Sunday con- tentment. Not wanting to miss out on even the slightest bit of relaxation, early morning was spent alternating between the spa’s sauna, stream room and lei- surely lengths in the pool. It was the best possible start to the day, followed by a visit back to the Linden Restaurant for a hearty breakfast. Served in buffet style, the options were vast and the eggs, fresh fruit and copious servings of coffee were the perfect full stop to a wonderful visit.
