T he Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts has announced the official re-opening of Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collec- tion Resort in Algarve. The property owned by United Invest- ments Portugal has now emerged from an all-encompassing 18-month renova- tion which restored the award-winning Pine Cliffs Hotel, alongside the addition of the new contemporary Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites. The complex which sits at the heart of Portugal’s burgeoning luxury travel scene will further cement the destination’s appeal to sophisticated, discerning travellers thanks to The Luxury Collection’s multi-million dollar investment to restore the brand’s most iconic hotels around the world. “The spectacular transformation of the iconic Pine Cliffs is testament to the collabo- rative and longstanding relationship we enjoy with United Investments Portugal,” said MichaelWale, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for Europe, Africa and Middle East.“This is without a doubt one of Starwood’s most significant develop- ments this year, and ensures this very special resort firmly remains the defini- tive luxury destination in the Algarve for generations to come.” The new design captured by acclaimed interior designer Lynne Hunt, has enabled all of the 217 guest rooms and suites, public areas and facilities to go through extensive renovations. The completely transformed resort evokes Pine Cliffs’ Portuguese heritage with historic fea- tures such as the hotel’s cherished azulejos – traditional hand-painted tiles that were fired in the kilns of Lisbon’s Fábrica de Cerâmica Constância – as lavish, one-of-a-kind headboard in every room. There are grand panels recounting the discoveries of Vasco de Gama and Fer- dinand Magellan, as well as a detailed map reproduction of the Mediterranean by famed medieval cartographer Giorgio Sideri, adorning the walls of the lobby while classic touches like terracotta floors can be found through the resort. With over 170 acres across the Algarve coastline, the resort boasts 11 different restaurants and bars under the super- vision of Executive Chef Marco Alban, including the poolside seafood restau- rant O Pescador. Guests will also find the Beach Club on the golden shore of Praia da Falésia, Piri Piri Steak House, and Zest, a new outlet providing an array of health-conscious drinks, snacks and dishes.
