Apu Jan What was old is new again, as memories play a vital role in Apu Jan’s AW16 collec- tion ‘Lingeringly‘ which features an in depth interpretation of how emotions link time, places and people together to form lasting impressions. In remaining faithful to their original knitwear aesthetics, Apu Jan has once again created a gorgeous 36-piece collection with help from continuing contributor, print designer Ying Wu. Together, these two enti- ties have produced another round of beautiful oriental silhouettes with tailored modern detailing. This AW16 collection shows how Apu Jan continues to cleverly blend new and old knitting techniques with current fabric treat- ments and manipulations to craft looks that are both truly unique, yet oddly traditional, thus further implementing the theme of this season’s ‘Lingeringly’. The clever prints of florals, clocks, keys and even Rubik’s Cubes only further support this theme of the passage of time and how it generates a sense of beauty from beginning to end. The knits, however, are especially beautiful as they walked down the runway in a flutter of long scarves, cardigans, sweaters, coats, gowns and fun floppy knitted hats that almost looked like yarn hair on vintage dolls in luxurious cashmere, silks and merino wools. Apu Jan’s vast use of fabrics were brilliantly displayed in each layered ensemble to show how to prop- erly mix prints and knits to create elegant, yet still casual and very wearable looks.
