As this is their first edition, only 200 of the gold-plated and 300 cases of the stain- less steel models have been produced. Type 1A consists of four variations: the first SEK001 has a 38.5mm diameter case with a gold PVD finish; five jewels and gold-plated Ronda 702 quartz mechanism; mineral crystal lens; white dial with PVD applied indexes; brass hour and minute hands in black; and a 20mm English Shell Cordovian leather strap in black. The second style: SEK002 also has a 38.5mm diameter case with stainless steel finish; five jewels and gold-plated Ronda 702 quartz mechanism; mineral crystal lens; white dial with Rhodium applied indexes; brass hour and minute hands in black; and English Bridle leather in black. The third SEK003 has similar details to the second style but instead has a 20mm English Bridle leather strap in tan. The last design SEK004 also has the same case, finish, mechanism and lens details but has a dark grey sunburst dial with Rhodium applied indexes; hour and minutes hands in Rhodium; and 20mm English Bridle leather in black. All four watches have water resistance of up to 3 ATM. Sekford follows a series of processes that ensure that they produce high-qual- ity time-pieces. First, their contemporary dress watches bring together the skills and expertise of a range of artisans from different disciplines. The lettering and numbers on the watch dials are drawn by one of the world’s most respected font foundries: Commercial Type. Sekford invited the studio to reinterpret the engraving skills of stone masons and the typography found on 19th century pocket watches in its designs. The Sekford logo found on the back of their watches is an English Gothic Revival engraving cut by specialist wood engraver MarkWilkinson in Lincolnshire.The stitched watch straps are made from hard-wearing English leathers: Bridle and Shell Cordovan which are sourced from one of Britain’s oldest tanneries in Derbyshire while additional satinated finishing are applied to the buckles to add further distinction. Like most wristwatches, Sekford’s time- pieces are Swiss made by one of the country’s most respected manufacturers. This enables Sekford to benefit from the highest level of Swiss horological exper- tise, quality components and finishing. Each of the Type 1A watches uses five jewels, gold-plated Ronda 702 quartz movement and has a battery life expec- tancy of five years. The watches also carry a two year manufacturer’s guar- antee as standard.The hands on Sekford dials are finished with curved ends and the distinctive contrast of short and long hands allows for easy reading. The box-domed mineral crystal produces bril- liant refractions that results in attractive reflection of light and shadow on the watch face while the cases are fully pol- ished with satinated sides. In addition, the fine polishing work from Sekford’s Swiss manufacturer accentuates the thin bezel and sharp, angular lugs. For fine and exqui- site presentation, each Sekford watch is packaged in a linen case along with an embossed logo and a pull-out tray. The brand’s authenticity and warranty docu- mentation is die-stamped and personally addressed to its new owner.
