The Bite Magazine - Spring 2016 - Issue 15
T his year, the theme of Campari’s 2016 Calendar seeks to find out whether people prefer the bitter or sweetness of the iconic red Italian apéritif through their Bittersweet Campaign. In a bid to raise dualism of both these elements, Campari has elected Hollywood actress and entrepreneur Kate Hudson to be their candidate. Using the ico- nography of a presidential election and the classic theme as a metaphor for these two opposing sides, the actress will endeavour to encourage people to take a stand, express an opinion and cast a vote. With its unique taste serving as the epitome of duality, Campari is asking the nation through social media and their calendar which aspect of the classic apéritif they’d identify with more. The theme also seeks to leverage the rising popularity of ‘bitter’ in the world of mixology and food. Its unmistakable bittersweet taste can be perceived as either bitter or sweet based on the cocktail in which it is used. To bring both these contrasts to life, the images in this year’s calendar were beautifully captured by fashion photographer Michelangelo di Battista who re-enacted the most quintessential moments of a real election, playing on the bitter or sweet angles. With the Hollywood actress embodying and personifying the two souls of Campari, Hudson plays the role of two different candidates on the campaign trail: one promoting the captivating bitterness platform while the other upholds the argument of a more subtle and intriguing sweet platform. With both unique person- alities, one behind the camera and the other in front, it is truly a match made in heaven. biteactorspotlight Actor Spotlight Kate Hudson in Campari Calendar 2016 The sensational Campari Calendar features the lovely Kate Hudson as its star of 2016 and puts forward a proposal of bitter versus sweet.
