The Bite Magazine - Spring 2016 - Issue 15
L ooking like pieces that Jane Austin would wear while strolling through her English garden, this SS16 season’s collection from Luisa Beccaria featured all things coquet- tish and sweet. Floor length gowns, tea dresses, ruffled off-the-shoulder cropped tops and lady like A-line skirts literally bursting with bouquets of delicate appliques and embroidered lilacs, roses, carnations, irises, hydrangeas, tulips, violets, cornflowers, periwinkles and cyclamen florals dominated the runway on organza, chif- fons and lace pieces. Large-brimmed sun hats and whimsical scarves tied these soft pastel colours together as they wafted down the catwalk, their flowery ‘smell’ no doubt lingering in the air. While Jane Austin’s high, empire-waist styles were used as inspiration for many of the gowns, a true cast back to ‘70s silhouettes could also clearly be seen.Together, this pairing of styles created pieces perfect for the modern woman who wants to look ethereal, but also pulled together with a firm foothold in keeping with modern fashion trends. Overall, this ultra-feminine collection is in full bloom and ready to be picked. Fashion Editor’s Loved Looks: #7:This cream knitted suit with the tiny floral embroidery at the thigh is so cute! Not to mention the awesome sun hat. #9: Cropped top and crocheted bikini equals theme of this summer’s poolside looks. #12:This eyelet top and skirt with the faded floral pattern is perfect for an al-fresco high tea. #20: High-waist lace skirt, can we say PERFECT for the non-traditional wedding dress or perhaps, rehearsal dinner ensemble? #35: LOVING this colourful Grecian gown - so red carpet.
