A very modern, clean and almost sterile collection was walked this season for Alberto Zambelli. Featuring 46 looks, this extremely large collection took inspiration from the black and white photos taken by Malian photographer Seydou Keïta in Mali between 1943 and 1963.The collection’s simple monochromatic colour palette of crisp white and saturated blacks (with pops of creams, soft muted pastel lilac, peach and yellow and soft twinkling metallic) pay homage to these photos with beautiful tribal-inspired graphics and designs. Zambelli presented somewhat boxy, yet still from-fitting silhouettes that showcased beautifully intricate patterns with interesting mesh and fringed textures and trimmings. The one thing I wasn’t keen on, however, had to be the models’ shoes, which I felt were oddly heavy and clunky for such light looks.
