comforting and delicious with no consideration for
the waistline whatsoever. There’s Warm Brownie
Pudding,Warm Apple Pie,Whoopie Pies, Bourbon
Bread Pudding, and the house speciality, a
Cheesecake lauded as ‘the best this side of the
pond’. I have to disagree – it’s by far the best I’ve
had EITHER side of the pond. A sweet, perfectly
crumbly Graham cracker base filled with soft, light
cream cheese filling and topped with sour cream.
It’s absolutely huge, two of us had a decent slice
each and there was still more than half left. In true
stateside style, our fabulous waiter, Constantine,
returned with the leftovers neatly packaged in a takeaway box – which we
enjoyed for the subsequent two nights.
The Bourbon Bar adds another dimension to JW Steakhouse, with an exten-
sive array of single barrel and small batch bourbons. Bar food includes a collec-
tion of finger-friendly snacks, starters and light entrees that are perfect with an
ice cold Kentucky Bourbon Sour, a refreshing Cucumber Lime Fizz or a stylish
Passion Fruit Champagne Cocktail.
The staff is exquisitely knowledgeable and professional, able to talk about
cuts of meat with the same depth and flair as a sommelier talks about his wine,
and at the same time they exhibit that friendly, relaxed waiting style of our
cousins across the pond which puts diners completely at ease. There’s a level of
refinement that you just don’t get at other steakhouses.
With a year under its belt, JW Steakhouse has little room for improvement
– in January it received its first AA Rosette, and I’m sure the second isn’t far away.
