National Licensed Trade Association
The National Licensed Trade Association (NLTA) is an
initiative for the alcohol retail and hospitality industry
to assist in the responsible retailing of alcohol which
will lead to responsible consumption by the general
public, particularly the young and vulnerable.
The NLTA has put the responsible drinking and alco-
hol awareness at the forefront of their charter, by
focusing on the responsible retailing of alcohol.
The NLTA consists of stakeholders drawn from all
areas of the community with the sole purpose of
building working partnerships between the alcohol
retail industry, local and national government, health
authorities, the education sector and law enforce-
ment agencies, providing a platform for new initia-
tives.
Barcode Directory
Bite have compiled together a directory of
licensed bars and drink retailers who are mem-
bers of Barcode, a training initiative supported
by the National Licensed Trade Association
(NLTA).
Barcode provides a training scheme for bar
staff designed to develop skills, confidence and
career development so that they can deliver a
more effective and professional service to cus-
tomers.
For each qualification completed, members are
given a Barcode card which holds details of
their level of competency. There are four levels
and for each one, members are given a different
colour card, from red for level 1 to black for
level 4.

There are four levels of Barcode qualification, and every mem-
ber is given a unique membership card to show their level of
competency.
Cards come in four colours, denoting skill level, from red
(level 1), to silver, gold and finally black.
All candidates must take their Barcode basic theory test to
receive a Barcode card and become a member.
The card acts as a pocket-sized portfolio and CV, storing
details of work experience and
history, references and qualifica-
tions, as well as other personal
information or achievements the
holder wants to include. The card
can also hold images and videos,
allowing candidates to upload
relevant examples of themselves
and their work.
