Duncan’s legendary wit is second only to that of fellow dandy,
Oscar Wilde.
Making their way up the impressive stone and wrought
iron staircase in the beautiful Robert Adam designed Home
House, guests arrived at
the Le Rouge Boudoir. In
the far corner, beautiful
DJ Janika spun the deep-
est house music whilst
elsewhere society snap-
pers pepped the brilliant-
ly dressed bright young
things. Cupcakes, cour-
tesy of Ginger’s bakery
adorned every available
service, professional
make-up artists lent a
skillful hand to perfect
that 18th century look
and continent hopping
magician Kasrani enter-
tained all with a dazzling
array of magic tricks.
At 10.30pm, heralded
by the cacophonous
sounds of blaring trum-
pets and shying horses,
Robin Dutt, poet, scholar and resident of Home House wel-
comed in a theatrical fashion show orchestrated by those
creative minds over at Explosion PR. Up-and-coming design-
ers, Nicol de Noir and April Banbury showcased the finest in
corsetry and ball gowns with the help of stunning models,
towering over the guests in skyscraper heels and even taller
powdered wigs.
By now, the party was in full swing; beautiful people,
dressed to the nines as courtiers and cads danced to the
sounds of Jez Pereira, Carlone & DJ Miss Mavrik; it was hard
to believe one hadn’t stumbled upon the wrap party of a peri-
od film. As the night wore on, the guest’s enthusiasm for all
things 18th century carried on well past that of the licensing
laws of Home House, and so the party was spirited away to
South Kensington for an after-party to end all after-parties.
The features that stood out most throughout the whole
night were the fabulous costumes and the friendliness of the
guests. Of course, “so where did you get that fabulous ruby
jeweled top hat from?” is an excellent and unique icebreaker.
