The return of Versace to the Couture Week line up was something that most of us were ecstatic about. Last season Donatella entertained us with an intimate presentation of her collection. We saw Lindsey Wixson dazzle in a sumptuous yellow bodysuit while the deliciously sexy Versace floor length gowns followed closely behind.
This season at Versace, Donatella upped her game. Not only were we invited to see her collection as a runway show, but also, she delivered one of the most show-stopping collections that Couture week has seen in a while. Lindsey Wixson opened the show in a gorgeous white rugged coatdress. What I liked most about this look was that it incorporated that boxer/gladiator style belt that was shown in the Menswear shows, it added a masculine touch to an utterly feminine look. Jaw dropping dress spilt down the runway each one an elegant as the other, while thigh high splits and intricate detailed bondage styled bodices were certainly in abundance. Subtle thigh skimming dresses contrasted perfectly against the floor length gowns, oozing the collection with femininity and of course that ultimate sex factor that we all expect to see at a Versace show.
Colour wise it was a visual dream, as we saw sorbet colours melt into ice-cream tones, while flashes of harsh lime, deep sky blue and neon (a Versace favourite) enhanced the overall elegance of this collection.
Overall the show was sexy, sassy and highly sophisticated, it had structure and a quirky element that we inevitably like to see at a Versace show.
