The last time we saw a resort collection from the esteemed Alber Elbaz, we were presented with Daphne Groeneveld and Kristina Salinovic in a collection made up predominately of muted tones and mesmerising swimwear. It was formal, classic and perfectly wearable.
Then came February, and we were face to face with the illustrious Karlie Kloss stomping her way down the runway, the black velveteen dress and dramatic cat eye flicks causing a fashion ruckus amongst those on the front row. But of course you would expect nothing less from a designer of such prestige.
Now, a year has passed, and Elbaz has created numerous collections for Lanvin, celebrated ten years at the helm of this design house and even decorated the Christmas tree at Claridges, so when it was time for Elbaz to seduce us again with his latest collection, we knew he would not disappoint.
This resort season Elbaz injected body conscious stripes, colourful visors, intoxicating colour schemes and that perfect mixture of sharp tailoring and loose fitting silhouettes. It was flattering, ladylike and utterly playful. But what else would you except from Alber? Ruby jewel tones fizzled into sunset yellows, while metallic gold and sultry silver tones completed the collection to absolute perfection.
Overall this collection had everything, peplums, ruffles, pleating, visors, and of course those killer accessories.
