Remember the Chanel spring/summer show, in which Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a beautiful underwater aquarium complete with the dreamy Florence Welsh emerging from a seashell? (If not you can see the full show below). Thought so, was hard to forget really. This season, inhabitants from the ocean, cropped up in many designers shows. From starfish to waves, it was all there.
This season, it was not just Chanel that indulged in this trend. Versace, Mary Katrantzou and Stella McCartney all had underwater themed characteristics within their collections. Versace featured magical sea horses, seashells and starfish upon leather jackets, shorts and short dresses, while Katrantzou (known for her elusive digital printing), featured colourful tropical fish upon taffeta cocktail dresses. McCartney on the other-hand focused upon the waves, as she featured wave trimmings upon her dresses.
Accessories were also included in this new aquatic trend as Chanel chose to display delicate seashell clutch bags, while hair and make-up wise tantalizing pearls gave the finishing touches to the models creating the perfect underwater sea goddess.
