London Fashion Week Day 3: Mulberry Autumn/Winter 2012-13
With Lindsey Wixson headlining their most recent campaign, there was a small ray of hope that we were going to see her open or close the Mulberry Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection. Alas, we were disappointed. But what did not disappoint us this season was the sheer exquisiteness of the clothing and accessories that Emma Hill brought to the catwalk.
This season Hill (the creative genius behind the brand), was inspired by the magical tale ‘Where The Wild Things Are.’
It was clear from this collection, that it was going to be all about fur this season, as we see many of the looks adorned with this luxe, rich and textured fabric. The opening look of the collection shows us this deep tanned fur coat, with accessories that compliment each other perfectly. It makes a strong opening statement and we are left intrigued into what Hill will use to follow. But in retrospect what can follow fur? The answer, only more fur, as we see this beautiful fur gilet bound in at the waist with a thin simplistic leather belt styled together with this sunset yellow coloured skirt. Patterns and texture were big this season at Mulberry, we see oversized chunky knit scarves being nipped into belts, lace fishtails, and oversized luxe fur hoods.
“It had to be very Mulberry” explains Hill “I wanted it to look like it had always been there”. This season also expect an influx of fringing, tassels and a new material trend to hit the catwalk this season, quilted.
With Elizabeth Olsen, Michelle Williams and Lana Del Rey all sitting front row, it is no wonder that we were left in awe of the sheer beauty that the brand brought to the catwalk of London.
