NEW SINGLE RELEASES bite new music Vasudeva Images courtesy of Prescription PR T he smooth rhythmic sound of Vasudeva’s latest single ‘Yamaha’ taken from their third studio al- bum Generator is enough to settle you down for some much-needed downtime. The track accompanied by a dreamy animated sequence video by Jason Edmunds of palm trees, a gas station, and a motorcyclist travelling with a passenger on the road makes you want to escape somewhere as well, especially in this current climate. The interesting name of this instrumental rock trio from New Jersey, USA derives from the name of the father of deities Krishna, Balarama, and Subhadra according to Hindu mythology. Speaking about the single, the band said, “The name [Yamaha] comes from a person’s name. They came to every show of an eight-show Japanese tour. They said they liked this song and we named it after them.” Growing up on the quieter streets of New Jersey, friends Corey Mastrangelo on guitar, Grant Mayer on guitar and keyboard, and Derek Broomhead on drums would spend their summer days running from punk shows to late- night raves, living a dichotomous life that wormed its way into their music. The latest album sees them tapping into a varied set of influences, exploring textures, and using midi and drum machines in their music. Generator speaks to the notion of technology pushing Vasudeva forward in their everyday lives. There is an overwhelming sense of calm to the album, the landscape created by Mastrangelo, Mayer, and Broomhead envelop- ing the listener, the music ebbing and flowing, creating worlds while saying nothing at all. http://www.vasudevamusic.com
