The Bite Magazine - Summer 2019 - Issue 25

bite spa review First up were a dip and bubbles in the Hydrotherapy Pool aka Aquatic Therapy. Once in, I reclined in the built-in full body stainless steel loungers, which are the absolute winners. Rest your head comfortably, look up at a twinkling ceiling and float effortlessly, a fantastic idea that should be replicated in every spa! There are just two recliners, but it was Thursday late afternoon and the place was empty, so I was lucky enough to enjoy pad- dling around on my own. A tip worth remembering: go for a mid-week crowd-free pampering session! On my way out of the pool, I discovered a swan-neck water fountain that penetrated hard the build-up of knotted muscles on my upper back with a mighty tor- rent. Embarking on my warming journey, I began with the Scandinavian heat experience. Sauna is a ritual, a lifestyle, a perfect relaxation for the body and spirit, and great pleasure that should not be ignored. High temper- ature and intense sweating effectively cleansed my body by removing the toxins. Next, I ventured inside the Sanarium, a specialist type of sauna in which the temperature is lower and more man- ageable to withstand than in a traditional sauna. This allows for more extended stays in it. The gentle warmth has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, acting as a stress reliever and adding vitality. This was followed by an aromatic bath in the small Herbal Steam Room. It works on all the senses! I loved sitting underneath the hot jets of steam shooting down onto my body at the push of a button. Another feature is the Kneipp Hoses that can be used for cooling off inside the cabin, enabling you to enjoy the hot bath for a bit longer. Being surrounded by a saturat- ed atmosphere, high humidity combined with pleasant heat and aroma always has a regenerative effect on me, eases the breathing and relieves flu-like symptoms. It is also a great way to support weight loss – a win-win! What's more, a fresh glow had already resurfaced on my skin – you can't complain about that! Finally, one of the most fascinating and unmissable experiences that await demanding guests is the Snow Paradise used in tandem with hot therapies. There was nothing more refreshing than stepping through the thick heavy wooden door into an eternal winter to enjoy thrilling temperature drop to -15°C. Brace yourself for the shock and remember to keep your slippers on when you go in! Cooling the body down in a winter landscape amidst rocks and glacial crevasses covered with fluffy snow is definitely the most fun element associated with staying at the K Spa – your senses will definitely come alive. I braved and rubbed the snow briskly over my arms and legs - a practice that is said to help boost circulation as well as exfoliation!
