bite beauty ARBONNE MAKE-UP VEGAN BEAUTY Beauty Editor Giovanna Zac talks about a new love affair for vegan beauty products and how this trend is taking over. I was introduced to Arbonne by Dr. Xavier Goodarzian, an Independ- ent Consultant who was exhibiting at Professional Beauty 2019 held at ExCeL. Arbonne is a multi-premium skin care, hair care, mineralised make-up and nutritional/wellbeing brand, which is part of the Paris-based Groupe Rocher and is rightly loved in many countries. They en- joy a line of products with over 40 years of experience in the botanical, green science. Today their formulation includes vegan certified, free-from and PETA approved ingredients. In fact, their make-up range has been created with moisturising botan- icals and anti-ageing ingredients to help the skin feel hydrated, nourished and well looked after. Their slogan for their make- up range is ‘skin care with colour’ which is at the heart of their collection, and now that I have tried them, I can see why. IT’S ALL IN THE EYES EYE SHADOW PALETTES, VOLUME 1 and VOLUME 2 These are two eyeshadow palettes that I immediately fell in love with: from the look of their sustainable package to their inner ingredients. Formulated with natural derived coloured pigment such as clay and minerals, the eyeshadows are made with a blend of Mallow Flowers, Cucumber, and Sunflower Seed Oil which conditions, moisturises and brightens the eyelid while wearing make-up. The 12 shadow palettes have all the most unique colour hues a make-up lover may wish for, to inspire endless creativity. VOLUME 1 in velvety and richly pigment- ed colours are inspired by earthy tones. The matte natural shades of Fog and Sand/Car- away are combined with the rich shimmer mid-tone hues of gold in Cactus/Desert; light bronze in Amber and Red Rock; to the deeper earthy tones of shimmery dark green in Forest; browns, in Cactus and Mahogany; with a gorgeous tone of dark, matte brown in Cypress. VOLUME 2 features shades inspired by gemstones and crystals. The palette combines delicate, light matte nude shades such as pale peach in Quartz; light beige in Marble; lilac/pink in Geode; to the more intense matte shades of velvety smokey black in Onyx; to a beautiful rich shimmer of plum in Aurora; blue/green in Sapphire; and light purple in Amethyst. Both eyeshadow palettes are beautiful to work with. The blendable richness of their powders make it really easy to use, mix and interchange, allowing you to create endless looks for day, evening and creative designs. For me, both palettes have been a pleasure to work with, and one of the best colour combinations in this range. IT'S A FINE LINE LIQUID EYE LINER This great liquid liner not only is an amazing eyeliner but it also cares for the delicate skin around the eye area and lashes. Infused with Eyebright extract, an antioxidant property to soothe the eye area from environmental dryness, Hibiscus extract to promote radiant looking skin, and Larch & Green Tea extract to promote the appearance of fuller lashes. This long-wearing, smudge-proof and very fast drying liquid eyeliner comes with a fine felt tip that is very easy to control, allowing the most precise and intricate of flicks and sculpted designed eyeliner application on any eye shape. I really like how quickly it dries, without smudging or bleeding on the lash line. Tears-proof, I found it useful to work with sensitive eyes too. TIP: If the symmetry is not there yet, and you are worried that the liquid liner dries before perfecting the design, trace your lin- er shape using a normal pencil, once both sides are even, use the Fine Line Liquid Eye Liner on top, to make it perfect, darker and long-lasting. Available in the dark colour of Eclipse and the brown tone of Arbor. SPEAK VOLUMES MASCARA This mascara is the ideal product to use for anyone who wishes to combine great looking lashes with lash hair care. Infused with botanical ingredients, its Pea Peptide, and Radish Root help to create a more voluminous and fuller lash appearance, while Larch & Green Tea Extract give it a longer lash appearance. The mascara delivers a full lash effect, which can be built from a natural look to a dramatic finish with multiple swipes. Its tapered brush has a specially designed bristle that allows you to catch every single lash and create fuller, longer and buildable colour as desired. I particularly liked the fact that it is light- weight and smudge resistant, especially good for contact lens wearers. I love to wear a lot of mascara and have a more dramatic look with really black coloured lashes, so I was delighted and impressed with how it made my lashes fuller, curlier and beautifully coated, without any clamps or clinging lashes. Easily removed with eye make-up remover, I did not have to worry about breaking or fall-out lashes. My Experience I could not be more impressed by the high quality of the Arbonne make-up range. It is very comforting to know that there are brands dedicated to the love of botanical ingredients and their beneficial formula- tions. It makes sense that so many people are looking for more brands that can offer ‘clean products’ while respecting the planet and its kingdoms. Trying the Arbonne range was a true inspiration and a pleasure to work with. Using them for my personal make-up, it made me feel like I was look- ing after my skin and wellbeing.
