The Bite Magazine - Summer 2019 - Issue 25

W ith the horned fairy’s heart softening with love at the end of 2014’s Maleficent after she cursed Aurora as a baby, five years have now passed and the relation- ship between her and Princess Aurora has become more complex. Taking her goddaughter under her wing, Maleficent is alarmed when she learns that she is engaged to be married and tells her that, “love doesn’t always end well.” The princess begs for a chance to prove her wrong but Maleficent is reluctant to allow her to do so. Another blow is when Queen Ingrith played by Michelle Pfeiffer, claims her as her daughter-in-law which Maleficent refuses to let happen. With new allies forming, new adversaries appearing, and a struggle arising to protect the moors and magical creatures that live within, her heart hardens once again and unleashes her powers in a wrath. Angelina Jolie returns as Maleficent, the dark stone- faced witch with steely eyes that could blow you away in seconds. Ellie Fanning also returns as Princess Aurora. Protecting the one she loves the most, Maleficent must keep Aurora out of the grasp of Queen Ingrith who doesn’t seem to have good intentions for the princess. Will Maleficent open Auro- ra’s eyes and make her understand that the marriage to Prince Phillip will only tear them apart? A witch who will do anything by all means necessary to protect someone she really values, Malefi- cent must use her powers to stop this union from happening even if it means it looks like she is going back to her old evil ways.
