The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24

O ne of the first impressions of an emerging artist, other than their music, is their overall style, whether it is their hair, face, body or the way that they dress. Throughout her music career Lady Gaga has shocked with her provocative wardrobe including the meat dress and Madonna has reinvented herself more times than a chameleon changes its colour. When Post Malone first burst onto the music scene in 2015 with ‘White Iverson’ sporting gold teeth and braids, many ques- tioned who he was representing, and was given stick for it. His early interviews were compiled of this very subject, including one on the Breakfast Club show with radio presenter Charla- magne Tha God who directly asked him, “Are you afraid as a white rapper that you may be considered a culture vulture?” A culture vulture being someone who profits off another culture’s genre, for example in music, i.e. Post Malone labelled as someone getting rich off black music. Answering the question, the artist said, “I’m not scared because I’m not trying to be anybody I’m not.” bite music celeb Beerbongs & Bentleys
