Breaking Dawn Part 1
S
tephanie Meyer’s vampire/werewolf saga builds on what promises
to be a dramatic climax in this rst part adaptation of the nal
novel, Breaking Dawn. Following the marriage of lead characters
Bella and Edward, marital bliss seems like an unlikely reality as the
impending arrival of their child Renesmee causes tension within both the
vampire and werewolf communities. Fellow original cast member Taylor
Lautner is also back, as the struggle between the different factions threat-
ens to destroy Edward and Bella’s world completely.
After careful consideration about who was best for the project (in-
cluding rumours suggesting Gus Van Sant and Soa Coppola) it was de-
cided that Oscar and Golden Globe winner Bill Condon should take the
helm of Breaking Dawn: Part 1 and its budget of $260 million. That may
sound like a lot of fake blood and fangs, but after Eclipse recouped its
entire budget during the opening weekend,Twilight fans showed that the
franchise is far from running out of bite.
The lm’s tagline may be “forever is only the beginning”, but after eve-
rything that Edward and Bella have been through, the question for Part 2
has to be... the beginning of what? For the answer though, fans will have
to wait until its release next year in November 2012.
