their
roots set firm-
ly in natural ele-
ments, LeJu contin-
ues to combine the best in contemporary jewellery
design with sustainable components.Their trademark
vegetable ivory, a special seed obtained from a palm
tree called Hyphaene Phytelephas found in the
Amazonian rain forest, is a natural alternative to elephant
ivory and the key ingredient in their jewellery designs, mixed with
silver, gold and copper.Together with new materials such as pyrite,moral-
la (emerald), resin, hemp and bamboo, LeJu’s new Spring/Summer 2012
collection brings together intense colours and bold structure, threaded
together using leather, cotton, hemp and waxthread.
LeJu was founded by LennyTrines, the designer, and Juan Munoz, the busi-
ness brains behind the company. They combined their expertise to create
designs that are unique and full of colour, and have expanded their business portfolio
across the world. The inspiration behind the designs began with Lenny’s experience
whilst travelling through South America, where she spent eight weeks exploring and
visiting different villages. It was here that she discovered her true desire to create jew-
ellery using natural materials which reflects the colours, shapes and energy echoed in
the rain forest.
Now in their sixth year of business, Lenny said of the new collection,“I really wanted to
celebrate all that we’ve become. I’ve pushed the design the furthest it’s been and there are
some amazingly complex editorial pieces. I can’t wait to see the reactions. It’s LeJu as it’s never
been seen before!”
