Barcode Test
The Barcode training scheme is set over four levels and incor-
porates other apprenticeships and NVQs. The Barcode basic
theory test itself is mandatory for all members, who must pass
this level one exam before being allowed to become a member
and move on in their training.
The basic theory test covers essentials such as health and
safety, first aid, drink awareness and public responsibility and is
the only comprehensive test of its kind. The test is multiple
choice and all question and answers are available in the
Barcode revision
book, as well as on CD and the Barcode
website
.
Operators can arrange for a Barcode Bus to visit their
venue for all staff to take their test on board, or simply have the
test in their venue.
This bespoke double decker comes equipped with 12 test-
ing booths and is a one stop examination shop.
Once an individual has passed their Barcode basic theory
test they will receive a red (level 1) card, unless the candidate
already holds and NVQ level 2 or 3 in Food & Drink, Drink
Service or holds a PLH/NCPLH award. For those who do not,
they can apply to Barcode to progress and take these qualifi-
cations.
