January Must Haves – Aevha London

January can be a depressing time of year so indulging in a little retail therapy is absolutely necessary. Here’s what I’ll be purchasing to brighten up those dreary winter days.

Designed by the talented Alice Horlick, Aevha London is an accessories label that is the very definition of refined luxury. I first discovered AEVHA London early 2014, when the ever chic Olivia Palermo featured on of their handbags on her eponymous website. Obviously if the one of New Yorks more stylish women gives her approval to something it’s worth taking a peek at and upon seeing the full collection of gorgeous handbags, I was in love.

Horlick describes the AEVHA woman as someone who “likes to make a design statement in her everyday wear whilst appreciating the discrete luxury of an undiscovered brand.” So different and yet wearable her bags swiftly became a Fashion Week staple and a personal style secret, giving each ensemble the perfect amount of edge without having to give it too much thought.

With an overarching them of architectural shapes, structure is at the heart of AEVHA’s aesthetic. The silhouettes are kept strong and striking throughout, especially in the Genoir Tote, the Aboreal Tote and the elaborately geometric Mondrial Shoulder Bag.

Horlicks strong use of colour, bright leathers and confidence in mixing her palettes up ensures that whilst the pieces are striking they also retain an element of fun. The Arboreal Clutch instantly enamored me. A boxy rectangular clutch bag adorned with a hand carved wooden handle, it’s truly a stand out piece. The distinctive wooden hardware & carved bone used for the brands unique handles really elevates their clutch bags to the next level and within the Arboreal story, the unique grain of every piece of exotic rosewood makes each bag inimitable.

Already thinking forward, Horlick has some exciting plans for upcoming seasons. “For AW16 I am currently working on a handle made in tortoiseshell with a metal core; think super chunky sunglass frames transformed into a clutch handle!” With Kate Moss, Taylor Swift and Emma Roberts all reportedly fans of the brand, it’s most definitely no longer my style secret but it’s safe to say that AEVHA London will always be my go to brand for a statement handbag.
