Are The Minions Finally Gracing The Cover Of Vogue?

It’s official – the Minions are set to be the years hottest Vogue cover! Not only are the Minions set to be the cinematic stars of the year, one of them has also landed a spot on fashion’s most coveted magazine cover.

Minion-cover-vogue-1-22jun15-b_592x888It’s a common misconception to those on the outside that the fashion industry has no sense of humour. Yes, hemlines, sequins and silhouettes are of the upmost importance but that isn’t to say us fashionista’s don’t know how to have a laugh.

Of course Vogue is the very zenith of serious fashion but no one can deny their brilliant sense of humour with the release of Vogue Minions. The first film to be published under British Vogue’s new video section, Vogue Minions is a hilarious mockumentary that focuses on the influence that the Minions have had on the fashion industry for all these years.

Presented by the lauded Suzy Menkes, the brilliant mini-film features interviews with  British Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman as well as some of the industries finest designers, including Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana and milliner Stephen Jones as they discuss the huge influence the little yellow creatures have had in their careers. It’s a truly brilliant way to showcase the lighthearted side of both Vogue and the fashion industry as a whole and I think it’s safe to say that Alber Elbaz’s faux despair that his yellow secret has been made public combined with Rupert Sanderson’s confession that ‘their minion yellow hands have been all over my empire” is pure comedic genius!

A full Vogue cover was mocked up to support the film and whilst the issue will sadly never go to press, the Utility Chic focused issue that includes features on ‘Minion Effort, Maximum Impact’, ‘50 Shades of Yellow‘ and ‘Goggle Translate; How to wear summer’s trickiest trend’ will no doubt become one of Vogue’s most instagrammed covers.
