Great News For Fans Of Mulberry

Whether you’re a Bayswater girl or you prefer to push the boat out with a Del Ray or an Alexa, there’s exciting news in the world of handbags.

EHill_V_22Nov2010_PR_b_592x888For anyone not in the know, the Bayswater, Del Ray and Alexa are all amongst Mulberry’s most famous & coveted bags, each created by the brands beloved former Creative Director Emma Hill. You’d be hard sprung handbag aficionado who didn’t despair when Hill abruptly left her role at Mulberry two years ago with no successor in sight and there’s been something of a dark cloud hanging over the brand ever since.

However, just as Johnny Coca, former Design Director at Céline prepares to take over the reigns at Britain’s favourite accessories house Hill has announced that she will be launching her own accessories line this year, name Hill & Friends. Excited? I know I am!

Collaborating with a Georgia Fendley, also a former Mulberry Director (Fendley held the role of Brand Director), this is the first major project for Hill since she left Mulberry. Set to launch with what will undoubtedly be a celeb studded presentation during London Fashion Week in September, the brand has announced that the products will be available to purchase the very next day, from both their own website and Net-A-Porter. Whilst there are reportedly plans to add a ready-to-wear offering further down the line, the brand is currently focused on their accessories, something which Hill has always excelled at.

So what can we expect? Hill is known for creating cult classics such as the Bayswater as well as harnessing celebrity style to create a bestseller a la the Alexa so it’s safe to assume that the collection will embrace a mix of ‘classic’ styles as well as mixing it up with trendier pieces for the more experimental customer. Personally I can’t wait to see who’s headline worthy style Hill pays homage to first!
