Frida Gianni’s Valentino Love

The fashion industry is known for it’s drama! When the stakes are high, everyone is caffeinated up to their eyeballs and you’re only ever one dress away from being on the wrong side of style it’s only inevitable that things get messy. Sometimes the headlines are crystal clear (*ahem*, Galliano, *ahem* *ahem*) but when the waters are murkier, a little bit of wardrobe play is how the truly chic amongst us fight their wars.

When Frida Giannini and her parter Patrizio di Marco left their respective posts as Creative Director and CEO of Gucci earlier this year, it was rumoured to be a less than amicable affair, with Giannini leaving a month earlier than planned and Gucci announcing that her successor Alessandro Michele would be reworking most of her last collection (AW15) before presenting at MFW in February. However far from stomping her feet and drawing attention to herself, the designer kept an elegant silence and sent perhaps the loudest message of all when choosing Valentino to create her wedding dress.

Pushing Gucci completely out of her mind, Giannini  turned to her friends Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli to create a beautiful custom haute couture gown for her special day along with an adorable co-ordinating dress for the couples daughter Greta. Eschewing traditional white, the gown was a beautiful pale pink with long sleeves, sheer lace inserts and delicate embellishments all over.

Whilst the stylish couple have yet to announce their next moves in the world of fashion, I can’t wait to see how they continue to mix things up.
