London Edge – Fashion With A Difference

London Fashion Week always comes and goes with a blur and each season bears witness to countless catwalks, collections and trends. However, there is more to London’s fashion scene that what occupies the tents at Somerset House and when it comes to alternative fashion, LondonEdge has rapidly established itself as the go to event for those seeking something that ventures from the norm. Concentrating on some of fashions most exciting niches, LondonEdge hosts exhibitors from 31  countries across the world, featuring styles such as gothic, punk, heavy metal, underground & rockabilly across clothing, accessories, footwear, haircare as well as piercings and tattoos.

This year the exciting event took place at London’s Kensington Olympia and attracted over thousands of guests, cementing it’s reputation as one of the must attend events of the season. Showcasing brand such as Hidden Temple, Yummy Gummy Latex, House of Intelligence, Bésame, Righteous London, Betty Page by Ellie Shoes, Offend my Eyes, Twisted Beak and many more, the three day trade show is a great gateway to the weird and wonderful fashion that exists beyond the high street.

Whilst the event is primarily for showcasing brands to potential buyers, LondonEdge excels at putting the ‘social’ into their events, opening with a ‘Bloggers Meet-up’ and closing the event with their now legendary LondonEdge party. This year they held their second ‘Bloggers Meet-up,’ lead with a talk by blogging queen, Kat Williams. More than 60 bloggers were welcomed with a delicious champagne reception, goody bags filled with treats and gorgeous makeovers from leading brands Voodoo Vixen & Jawbreaker. And once the crowds had their fill of four fully loaded fashion shows per day, had indulged in the lovely makeovers on offer and exercised their shopping muscles it was time for to party!

Sponsored by Voodoo Vixen and Jawbreaker, this season’s after show party saw over 500 exhibitors, buyers, journalists, organisers and bloggers come together at Gem Bar in Soho for the trade show’s most spectacular party yet! From the extravagant host, Meth, The Drag Queen of London to the vintage double deckers that transported the crowds to Soho, the party was a suitable rocking way to close off the event. Guests were treated to a free bar, music by Shoreditch DJ’s and entertainment by Miss Betsy Rose, Dee Christopher and the vocal stylings of The Lounge Kittens. The party was definitely a night to remember and was the perfect end to several days spent admiring the alternative. One thing is for certain, the crowds at next years events are set to be even bigger and we cannot wait to see what our favourite alternative brands dream up for the next season.
