Could you think of a more fulfilling moment for the British Fashion Industry such as yesterday when we saw Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn and the rest of the British model elite parading through the Olympic Closing Ceremony in an array of custom made outfits, by some of Britain’s greatest designers.
Both Naomi and Kate wore McQueen, the sequins on Kate dress glimmering off each light giving the dress a surreal yet magical sense of notion, Karen Elson wore a stunning golden Burberry gown, the elegant train leaving us asphyxiated to each shard of detailing. Georgia May Jagger wore a demur pleated metallic Victoria Beckham number and Miss Dunn brought high drama to the stage in a Jonathan Saunders gown, complete with a feather headdress courtesy of Stephen Jones. We also saw the graceful Lily Cole wearing a gold embroidered dress by Erdem, while Stella Tennant kept it smart and chic in a tuxedo suit, which was designed by the esteemed Scotsman Christopher Kane. And finally, the beautiful Lily Donaldson emerged wearing a breathtaking Vivienne Westwood sequinned gown.
It was the perfect representation of the truly great design talent that the United Kingdom holds, and with David Bowie’s ‘Fashion’ been blasted in the background, we have never been prouder of our fashion’s heritage.
