We all know the famous quote from HBO’s Sex and the City, ‘You want pasta, you go to Little Italy. You want wedding, you go Wang’ And while the recession may have shattered our prenuptial dreams of walking down the aisle in Vera Wang, (brides, no tears please) have no fear, as help is on hand, and it comes to us in the form of Richard Nicoll.
British designer Richard Nicoll, has created a non-conformist yet suitably elegant bridal collection. But this collection is not for his own respected label, it is for high street chain Topshop.
When I first heard of the collaboration, I was indeed shocked. I thought Topshop? Bridal wear, really? But as I browsed through each dress, I realised that yes, you could indeed wear one of these dresses on your big day, or instead wear one of these pieces as a second dress to your original gown.
When asked about his collaboration with the high street store Nicoll responded ‘I proposed the idea after my spring/summer 2012 show, I liked the idea of making a modern affordable alternative to meringue culture. The dresses are marketed as bridal, but would equally be suitable as bridesmaid or cocktail dresses’.
The collection itself, which you can see below, consists of 7 dresses, which feature floor length gowns and thigh high dresses. Prices vary from £150-£350.
